UL coach Alyson Habetz has completed her coaching staff after dismissing her pitching and hitting coach in June.

It was a long search, but UL softball coach Alyson Habetz has found her new pitching coach in Toledo pitching coach Kyle Brady.

Brady was at Toledo for just one season after helping lead Chattanooga State Community College to the NJCAA World Series as an assistant coach two years ago.

Brady was the pitching coach at Connecticut in 2022, helping the Huskies finish 20-4 in Big East play for the program’s first regular-season conference championship since 1997.

The Huskies had a 1.99 ERA in conference play with a school-record 194 strikeouts against league hitters that season. UConn also had a school-record 395 strikeouts.

That staff was anchored by first-team All-Big East pitcher Elise Sokolsky with 20 wins. Sokolsky is now pitching for Oregon.

Prior to his stint at UConn, Brady served as the director of operations at Duke from 2019-20. The Blue Devils finished one of those seasons ranked No. 25 nationally.

In addition to coaching, Brady has run training programs for pitchers with a heavy emphasis on the biomechanics of pitching, helping send many aspiring players into college programs around the country.

He’s a native of Cincinnati and graduated from Dayton in 2009. He played professionally for three seasons in the Frontier League and American Association.

His first season at Toledo didn’t go as planned. The team went 19-28 and the pitching staff had a 4.91 ERA.

Brady replaces Shelbi Sunseri at UL. Sunseri and hitting coach Shellie Landry were let go shortly after the 2024 season.

Brady takes over a pitching staff that should be more equipped than a year ago. Texas Tech transfer Sage Hoover and Florida transfer Lexie Delbrey are expected to be available after missing the entire 2025 season while recovering from injuries. Habetz also added Arizona State transfer Julianne Tipton to the roster during the summer.

Also in the picture are returning right-hander Bethaney Noble and incoming freshman Bailey Mackles from Slidell.

Last month, Habetz added former Western Michigan assistant coach Bill Shipman as the hitting coach.
