Athletes compete in the bike race down Cajundome Blvd. during the Miles Perret Cancer Services Triathlon at Bourgeois Hall on Saturday, July 29, 2023 in Lafayette, La.. The athletics competed in a 200 yard swim, 8 mile bike ride and a 2 mile run.

The Lafayette Police Department on Friday announced road closures and traffic delays expected Saturday because of the annual Miles Perret Triathlon. The event will start at 7 a.m. and is projected to end by 10 a.m.

To maintain safety for participants and spectators, several roadways will be closed or have intermittent traffic delays. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes and plan for additional travel time.

The full list of affected roadways are:

  • Cajundome Boulevard at Johnston Street
  • Souvenir Gate at Coliseum Road
  • Cajundome Boulevard at Reinhardt Drive
  • Cajundome Boulevard  at West Congress Street
  • West Congress Street at St. Mary Boulevard 
  • West Congress Street at Bertrand Drive
  • Cajundome Boulevard at Devalcourt Street
  • Cajundome Boulevard at Eraste Landry Road (south side of the roadway)
  • Eraste Landry Road at Robert Lee Circle (near Bertrand Drive)
  • Eraste Landry Road at Macon Road

Officers and barricades will be in place to manage traffic and ensure safety.

Drivers are encouraged to follow the guidance provided by the police department.
