Two 10-year-old boys from the Ville Platte area were involved in an accidental shooting, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed to KLFY.
The shooting occurred about 1:30 p.m. Sunday on Quail Loop Street. Officials said the boys were playing a game when one of the children picked up a weapon that was supposed to be locked up, unaware the weapon was loaded.
According to authorities the child then shot the other. That child was then sent to a local hospital.
The investigation is ongoing.
