When Tap 65 opened in Mid City in 2022, the restaurant was known for its 65 rotating beers, wines and whiskeys, along with its upscale Indian fusion menu.

Now, the restaurant will be changing hands.

Owners Rick and Needhi Patel have sold Tap 65 to Baton Rouge restaurateur Sam Darawsheh.

Tap 65 opened in Mid City in 2022 at 515 Mouton St., Baton Rouge.

"It was bittersweet. We really wanted to make some more time for the fam. Kids are growing up, and the restaurant life is pretty demanding," Rick Patel said. "The deal just came along, and it was something we thought would be great at the time, so we pulled the trigger."

Tap 65 is currently closed until Aug. 15, while the new owners transition into the space.

In the meantime, the Patels are working on a new dining concept. Needhi is planning to launch private, curated dinners for small groups in the fall.

Though the details are under wraps, guests can expect to see Indian fusion dishes on the menu.

"We love what we built. It was just a good time for us to dedicate a little bit more time to the household," Rick Patel said. "We wish nothing but the best for the new guys. Our journey is just taking a detour and a new direction."
