George Rodrigue's 1991 painting, 'Loup Garou.'

Rodrigue Studios announced Sunday that the documentary, "BLUE: The Life and Art of George Rodrigue," has been honored with a Silver Telly Award in the General-Documentary: Long Form category.

The Telly Awards, established in 1979, are among the most respected accolades in the television and video industry, celebrating excellence across platforms, from broadcast to streaming and digital content.

With thousands of entries submitted annually from around the globe, a Silver Telly in the Long Form Documentary category recognizes the outstanding quality of "BLUE: The Life and Art of George Rodrigue."

The Telly Awards annually receive more than 13,000 entries from 56 countries, judged by more than 200 industry experts against a high standard of excellence. While exact figures are unavailable, Silver Telly Awards, such as the one won by "BLUE," are a notable achievement, with estimates suggesting around only 10% of entries may receive some level of award and fewer get Silver.

"BLUE: The Life and Art of George Rodrigue" is the first-ever career-spanning documentary exploring the remarkable journey of George Rodrigue as an artist and 2024 Winner of the Southern Feature Audience Award at the New Orleans Film Festival.

The documentary will begin streaming nationally on May 29 at PBS.org. Streaming for everyone on PBS.org ends July 30, after which it will only be available via broadcasts and on the PBS Passport app through your local PBS affiliate.
