Antoine Massey lede - 1

Antoine Massey escaped from the Orleans Parish jail on May 16, 2025, and was still at large as of Tuesday, May 27.

The latest turn in the New Orleans jailbreak has brought more attention to escapee Antoine Massey as he remains at-large into the third week of the manhunt.

Videos on Instagram apparently showing Massey, 32, pleading his innocence despite breaking out of the Orleans Parish jail have sent law enforcement scrambling as they spread across social media.

Massey, a noted escape artist with a record of violent crimes, is one of the last two inmates who remain on the run, along with convicted killer Derrick Groves, 27.

Authorities believe Massey and Groves were among the ringleaders in the May 16 jailbreak where 10 inmates escaped. There have been no new arrests for over a week.

Those who have been re-arrested so far are: Lenton Vanburen Jr., Leo Tate Sr., Jermaine Donald, Corey Boyd, Kendell Myles, Robert Moody, Dkenan Dennis and Gary Price.

The alleged Massey video

The two Instagram videos, published to a since-deleted account Sunday, apparently show Massey talking to viewers while wearing a tracksuit.

The man in the video identifies himself as Massey and has his distinctive face tattoos.

Massey claims he was let out of the jail by workers and denies his ongoing rape and  domestic violence charges.

In addition, he appeals to multiple celebrities, including President Donald Trump, for help.

Massey's escape history

Massey has a history of escaping custody, and he has already broken his record for his longest escape from jail.

Counting his three jailbreaks and two ankle-monitor breaks, authorities say Massey is on his fifth escape attempt.

Before the most recent jailbreak, Massey's longest escape was when he was a juvenile in 2007.
