One person is dead after a shooting at a Mississippi Coast shipyard Friday morning, Pascagoula, Mississippi police said.

A suspect was in custody, police said.

At 7:32 a.m., police were dispatched to Ingalls Shipbuilding and confirmed the shooting victim. They began searching for the suspect.

Jackson County Sheriff John Ledbetter told the Sun Herald that the suspect was Curtis James Jr., 25. James was an Ingalls employee from the Mobile area, Ledbetter said.

Shipyard workers were urged to shelter in place as authorities searched the property for the shooter, who they believe acted alone, according to the Sun Herald.
